This Privacy Policy explains what personal data Pixelgram collects when you use pixelgram.in or our photobook editor at app.pixelgram.in, or when you contact us; why we collect it; who we share it with; how long we keep it; and the rights you have under India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (the “DPDP Act”).

Pixelgram (“we”, “us”) is based at 1367/3,4,5 S. Vellalapatty, Karur, Tamil Nadu, India. We decide how and why your personal data is used, which makes us the Data Fiduciary under the DPDP Act.

1. The short version

  • We use your photos for one thing: making your book.
  • Only you can see your projects. A Pixelgram team member opens one only if you ask us for support.
  • Photos for an ordered book are permanently deleted from our servers 15 business days after your book is delivered. You can delete a project and its photos yourself in the editor.
  • We never sell your personal data. We never use your photos for marketing or advertising without your written consent.
  • Payments are handled by Razorpay. We never see or store your card, UPI or bank details.
  • You can ask us to show, correct or delete your data at any time.

2. What we collect

2.1 Information you give us

  • Account details: you sign in with Google, so we receive your Google account name, email address and profile picture. We do not receive your Google password.
  • Delivery details: the recipient’s name, address, PIN code and phone number. If you choose, we save addresses to your account for future orders.
  • Your photos and projects: every photo you add to a project, your cover and spine text, captions, and the layout and colour choices you make.
  • Order details: what you ordered, the price, any promo code you used, payment status and the Razorpay transaction reference. Not your card or account number.
  • Messages: what you send us by email, Instagram or WhatsApp, including photos of a damaged book if you raise a quality claim.
  • Creator programme: if you apply, the details in your application email (name, city, social media handle, follower count and email address). If you join, we also collect the bank or UPI details we need to pay your commission.

2.2 Information collected automatically

  • Device and usage data: browser and device type, IP address, the pages you visit, and how you reached us, including the website that referred you and any creator or ad campaign link.
  • Cookies and similar technologies: see Section 7.

2.3 How the editor handles your photos

Every photo you add to a project is uploaded to our servers straight away, so the editor can autosave your work and you can carry on from any device. This includes photos you add but don’t place in your book. They stay in the project until you delete it, or until we delete them as set out in Section 5.

Photos often carry information recorded by your camera, such as the date taken and, on some phones, the location. Our editor reads only the date, orientation and size of each photo, to arrange it in your book. It does not read or use location. Your photo files are uploaded as they are, so any location your phone saved in a file stays in that file until it is deleted.

2.4 People in your photos

Your photos will often show family and friends, including children. We use these images only to make your book: to show it in the editor, preview it and print it. As our Terms set out, you confirm that you have the consent of the people who appear in your photos, and for a child, that you are their parent or guardian or have that person’s permission.

3. Why we use it

We use your personal data only for the purposes below. We rely on the consent you give when you sign in, upload photos, place an order or agree to receive messages, or, where the DPDP Act allows, on a legitimate use such as meeting a legal or tax obligation.

Your photos and print files are stored in India, in Amazon Web Services’ Mumbai region. Some of our providers, such as Google, Meta and our email provider, may process data outside India. Where that happens, we only use countries the Government of India has not restricted under the DPDP Act.

7. Cookies and tracking

Our website and editor use cookies and similar technologies stored in your browser:

  • Essential: keep you signed in to the editor and let large photo uploads resume if your connection drops. The editor cannot work without these.
  • Referral: pixelgram.in remembers which website sent you to us, so we know which creators and partners bring visitors.
  • Advertising: pixelgram.in uses the Meta Pixel, which sets a cookie (_fbp) so we can tell when someone who saw our Instagram or Facebook ad visits the site or places an order. Meta may combine this with information it already holds about you, under Meta’s own privacy policy.

The Meta Pixel loads only after you agree to it on our cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time, block cookies in your browser settings, or manage how Meta uses your data in your Facebook or Instagram ad preferences.

8. Your rights

Under the DPDP Act you have the right to:

  • Access: get a summary of the personal data we hold about you, how we use it, and who we have shared it with.
  • Correction and erasure: have inaccurate or incomplete data corrected or updated, and have your data deleted once it is no longer needed, unless the law requires us to keep it. You can also delete a project and its photos yourself in the editor.
  • Withdraw consent: at any time, as easily as you gave it. This does not affect what we did before you withdrew it, and if your book is already in production we may not be able to stop the order.
  • Grievance redressal: raise a complaint with our Grievance Officer (Section 13).
  • Nominate: name someone to exercise these rights on your behalf if you die or become unable to do so.
  • Complain to the Data Protection Board of India: if you are not satisfied with our response.

To use any of these rights, or to delete your account, email hello@pixelgram.in or call +91 75500 19626 with the subject “Privacy request”. We may ask you to confirm your identity first. We will respond within 30 days.

9. Children

Pixelgram accounts and orders are for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly create accounts for, or collect personal data from, anyone under 18. If you believe a child has given us their personal data, contact us and we will delete it. Photos of children uploaded by a parent or guardian are used only to print the book that was ordered.

10. How we protect your data

All data travels to and from our website and editor over an encrypted (HTTPS) connection. Photos and order data are stored with access-controlled cloud providers, and only the people who need it to make and deliver your book can see it. Payments are processed entirely by Razorpay. If a personal data breach occurs, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

11. Messages from us

We send order confirmations and tracking links by email because they are part of fulfilling your order. We send offers and news only if you have agreed to receive them. To stop them, use the unsubscribe link in any email, or reply STOP if we message you on WhatsApp.

12. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes to this policy, we will tell you by email or with a prominent notice on our website before they take effect. The date at the top shows when it was last updated.
